This past weekend Gaven and I took a road trip up to Logan. I must say Logan is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been.

Anyways... getting back on track. We went up to Logan to run the half marathon. It was a wonderful experience. I will say I am so proud of Gaven's hard work and watching him finish that race, he really worked hard. I loved seeing him cross the finish line.

At the end of the race they gave out medals to all the perticipants. I was amazed at the times some people had for racing. They gave medals out to all the different age groups. There was a 12 and under (yes thats right TWELVE AND UNDER) and these kids were running 1hr and 15-20min half marathons. First humbling experince, having a younger person beat your time... They then moved up in age groups, all the way up to age 60+ years. The winner ran a 1hr 20min mile (or close around that time) How humbling it is to have someone twice your age beat your time by 30 minutes.

It made me think of all the excuses in life we all make up as to why we don't do things. All my excuses melted away in that moment. These people laid all excuses down and raced to their best ability. Putting all age, sex, size (both vertical and horizontal) behind them. I was very humbled as I realized how many excuses so many of us put on ourselves because of what we perceive to be truth.

I think it goes to show how much room we all have to move forward and grow and learn and improve in life. In all reality there is no end to growing and learning. That use to bother me to say that... but, the more i've learned, the more I realize how much there is to learn, the more I grow, the more I realize how much more growth there is to experience. It could be improving your racing time, it could be improving your relationships, your knowledge, your finances, your goals... so many areas in life. I'm so humbled and full of gratitude for the lessons in life I continue to learn.

I love your blog. I like reading your insightful posts. It is true, we do make excuses but when we know better we do better. I ran that half marathon when Caleb was a year. It was beautiful. We loved Logan. I need to run again (of course after the baby is born). I was also impressed at the St. George marathon how there literally was every shape and size but it is so inspiring to see people help each other along and this huge group of people working for the same goal.
